TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Latest Updates

All 200 units of the TVS Apache RTR 165 RP have been accounted for. It has been barely a week since the bike was launched and we have a pretty good idea why it has garnered such a phenomenal response.

The 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V was launched in India in October 2021. In its latest iteration, TVS blessed the popular naked with riding modes (a first in the segment) and a bunch of new features. Take a look at the details in our launch report here.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Engine

Powering the 2022 Apache RTR 160 4V is the same 159.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine with an oil cooler. For 2022, the engine has been enhanced with three riding modes: Rain, Urban and Sport. Under the Sport mode, the motor churns out 17.55PS at 9250 rpm and 14.73Nm at 7250 rpm, making it 0.08PS less powerful than its predecessor. The output figures go down further, to 15.64PS at 8600 rpm and 14.14Nm at 7250 rpm under Urban and Rain modes, for easier handling. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. For the Apache RTR 165 RP, TVS has used a bigger bore, valves and boosted the compression ratio. The resultant 164.9cc engine belts out 19.2PS at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm 8750rpm, a bump of 1.5PS. But the torque has gone down by 0.5Nm and also kicks in 1,500rpm later. Topping that is the new slipper clutch, unique to the RP variant only. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is built on a double-cradle split Synchro-Stiff chassis linked to a telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock tuned by Showa. It rolls on 17-inch alloys, wrapped in a 90-section front and 110-section rear tyre (for the drum variant) and a 90-section front and 130-section rear radial tyre (for the disc variant). A 270mm front petal disc and a 130mm rear drum brake (or 200mm rear petal disc) bring this naked to a halt. Single-channel ABS is offered as standard.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Variants

The 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is available in three standard variants: rear drum, rear disc, and rear disc with smartphone connectivity. There’s also a Special Edition variant that comes with a unique colour scheme, premium seat cover, and adjustable brake and clutch levers, besides getting the features already available on the top-end variant.

TVS has launched the new Apache RTR 165 RP under its Race Performance series. This bike will be limited to 200 units only, and packs a bored-out engine, new livery, bigger rear brake and brass-coated chain and sprocket.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Design

The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V gets a sporty streetfighter-like design complete with chiseled lines all over. The new sleek all-LED headlight with fang-like LED DRLs complements the muscular fuel tank extensions rather nicely. The large grey side panels keep the midsection busy, while the rear is dominated by a chunky (but practical) tyre hugger and a sporty twin-barrel exhaust.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Features

The 2022 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V features bulb indicators and a new all-LED headlight with LED DRLs. The tail lamp is LED as well. The bike is equipped with a fully digital multifunctional instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation in the top-end disc and Special Edition variants. Another noteworthy feature is the ‘Glide Through Traffic’ (GTT) function, essentially a low-speed assist to help the bike move through traffic without undue pressure on the clutch. This feature should make life a lot easier on roads with heavy traffic. The RP flaunts a new 240mm rear brake, biggest in the segment, while the other variants come with a 200mm unit. TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Competitors

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying Apache RTR 160 4V

Q. Which bike has the higher maintenance cost apache 200 or hornet 2.0?
  • Though i own 160 4v, i cant say about honda in question... 160 with a kick start is basic motorcycle but in past 3 years i found basic service is average of 1000+ or - but additional cost occured like shockers broke, silence inner muffler blew, parking lights issues which till date are not fixed and few other knick knacks happened and my running is just 20km per week hardly reached 12k. So my guess is yes 160 4v might b a little higher higher in maintenance considering its a 3 year old only
  • For this, we would suggest you to get in touch with the nearest authorized service center of the respective models as they would be able to assist you with the exact maintenance costs. Follow the link and select your city accordingly for service centers.

Q. What is the problems in apache rtr160 4v?
  • I recenty bought a TVS apache rtr 160 4v bs6. Its been hardly 4 months but my bike is having some issues. The engine automatically gets switched off while running. Doesnt happen always. Happens once or twice. I paid a visit to 3 service centres but the service centre guys seems to have no clue regarding the issue. I am fed up. Does any apache owner facing the same issue as mine ? If so, please kindly share your review and please let me know if you have found any solution to it. I searched the net..Some say we need to update the ECU if this kind of problems occur. I am confused
  • Facing the same issue, I have other problems too.... The bike won't go beyond 80km/hr speed. After suddenly gets off in the middle of the road when I start the bike again it throws some white smoke. For the 1st 4-5 months the service centre guys said that it's nothing, it will go off after sometime. Today at 3rd servicing the service engineer said that engine piston may have some fault and drinking the mobil more than normal so need to replace it.
  • Something bike run smooth but sometimes it start making noise and the rpm suddenly raise in 4 and 5th gear had to shift to 4rd gear to control bike then after pressing clutch in 4th gear rpm increases to 3000 to 3500, and then reduced slowly happened every time

Q. Which grade engine oil you are used for apache 160 4v
  • Apache RTR 160 10W-30 is recommended engine oil grade. Castrol POWER1 4T 10W-30 (or) Motul 3100 4T 10W-30 is most used Engine oils for TVS Apache RTR 160. Thanks, Rajarajan
  • Go for 10W 40 as it provides better higher temperature riding than 10W 30. My suggestion is 10W 40 Castrol Power 1 Synthetic oil (costs around 500/- for 1.2 lit with 3000km drain interval)
  • I only get it changed during service and refer to users manual for engine oil.
