Suzuki has sent out a launch invite, and we expect the Japanese giant to commence its EV journey in India with the new Burgam Electric. The upcoming electric scooter is production-ready and was recently spotted testing in Pune. Expect the manufacturer to launch the electric scooter later this year at around Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
Design-wise, the Suzuki Burgman Electric looks similar to the Suzuki Burgman Street. It gets a telescopic fork, a disc brake, and a 12-inch alloy wheel up front. However, the rear uses a twin shock absorber setup. The rear wheel is also smaller, likely a 10-inch unit, with drum brake and CBS.
The motor will likely generate around 4kW of power. Its performance could be equivalent to that of a 110cc petrol-powered scooter. Expect a range of around 90km, which should be sufficient for everyday commutes.
The Suzuki Burgman Electric will go up against the TVS iQube Electric, Bajaj Chetak, the upcoming Ola Electric Scooter, Hero eMaestro, and Simple Energy Mark 2. A more premium alternative would be the Ather 450X.
