About Hero
History
Originally, Hero started building motorcycles back in 1984 in a joint venture with Honda. The first ever motorcycle to roll out of the Hero Honda production line was the CD 100, which was followed by a number of models including the popular Splendor, CBZ, Passion, and the sporty Karizma. The partnership ultimately came to an end in 2011 and Hero started functioning as a standalone entity thereon.
Since then, Hero MotoCorp has not only expanded its lineup but was also set free to export its own products to Latin America, Africa and West Asia. The Impulse marked itself to be the first motorcycle manufactured by the standalone brand, Hero MotorCorp. Later on, the Indian bikemaker went ahead and expanded its 100cc, 110cc and 125cc lineup. In fact, it also introduced the Glamour Fi, the first ever fuel injected bike in India.
In recent years, Hero has expanded its arsenal and launched the XPulse 200 and quite a few other scooters with the latest technology including smartphone compatibility and much more. Hero MotoCorp has also been actively participating in the Dakar rally and promoting cross country rally races to quite a length.
Lately, with the electric vehicle mobility steadily marching forward, Hero has also been working on its electric scooter which will debut in the near future.
Product Portfolio
Scooters - Hero currently offers 110cc and 125cc scooter offerings. The 110cc range includes the Maestro Edge 110 and the Pleasure Plus range. Meanwhile, the 125cc scooters include the Maestro Edge 125 and the Destini 125. These are both practical and youthful.
Commuter Bikes - Hero’s major focus remains on its commuter lineup, which has bikes ranging from 100cc to 200cc–the Splendor range, Passion range, HF range, Glamour range and the XPulse 200T. The HF 100 is the most affordable bike in Hero’s current lineup. Not to mention, the Splendor and Passion are largely popular commuters throughout the country.
Sport naked - The Xtreme 160R is the only sporty naked bike offered by Hero. It’s not an out and out performance oriented bike, but aims to be the one off the lot. But like the entire Hero bloodline, it too is fairly practical and should suffice your daily commuter needs.
Faired - Hero currently offers only one faired motorcycle and that’s the Xtreme 200S. It’s a blend of aggressive styling and practical hardware. The Xtreme 200S isn’t a full blown sportsbike since its ergonomics are quite easy going.
ADV- Lately, ADVs have gained quite some popularity in India. And one of the smallest yet potent ones to be on sale here is the Hero XPulse 200. The bike has held its ground thoroughly and proved to be a seasoned off-roader. Not just that, it’s also the base for several race dirt bikes and even rally bikes.
Greatest Hits
Splendor range - Practicality and affordability
Karizma - One of the first sporty yet affordable bikes
Impulse - Mass exposure to off-road riding
XPulse 200 - A step ahead of the Impulse with better off-roading credentials
Xtreme 160R - Sporty naked with ample commuter sense
Future prospect
With the EV mobility progressing further, Hero is also working on launching its first e-scooter. Moreover, Hero is also going to bring a bigger and more capable ADV, which will have all of its Dakar learnings, considering the demand for the same already exists in India.

Both the scooters are good in their own forte. Overall, at Destini’s price point, the 110cc scooters offer better practicality inside the city with better storage, more features, and are more comfortable as well. The reason to pick the Destini over the 110’s is its impressive performance and its ability to carry a load or a pillion inside the city with ease. On the other hand, Jupiter 125 top-notch fit and finish levels, External fuel filler on the front apron is extremely convenient, Massive 33 litres of underseat storage can hold a lot of stuff. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride before making the final decision. It's 799mm seat is on the higher side and while my 5ft 8inch frame had no issues placing both feet on the ground while stationary in traffic, riders below 5ft 6inch will end up on tiptoes. The seat cushioning is on the softer side and while it offers plenty of support in city rides, spending a longer time on the saddle will be uncomfortable for your backside.

Hero has delivered a far better XPulse with the 4-valve updates. You will appreciate the extra drive and new suspension tune for commuting and off-roading. On other hand, Yezdi Scrambler isn’t an adventure motorcycle, yet you will relish the sporty handling of the Scrambler on your weekend rides. It is capable of carrying incredible lean angles with ease. And if talk about the third contender, apart from its accessible price tag, the Dominar 250 does one thing right, it is fit to its purpose. The 250cc motor may feel boring, but it works beautifully on the Dominar especially when you combine it with its comfortable touring ergonomics. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride for a better understanding of performance and comfort. Click on the link and select your desired city for dealership details.
